“Goddess of thresholds, Goddess of the gate, step forth into the light, step forth into the light!”

“Goddess of peace, Goddess of tranquility, how you smile at me, how you smile at me!”

“Hiere-quŕa, Hiere-quŕa, Hiere-quŕa, Hiere-quŕa!”

Her name sounds like a call from another time and another place. This song is a personal, poetic invocation to the goddess. She stands at the gate, at a crossing, at a threshold. She welcomes us with a smile, in peace and acceptance.

“O Goddess, you look out, O Goddess, you stand at the gate, you give me back my inheritance, you give me my inheritance for my happiness! I want to give you my story now, I want to live freely and happily now, to live.”

Some transitions in our lives feel like a gate. Behind us lies a story that has shaped us. Ahead of us lies something new that we do not yet know. In between, we stand right on the threshold.

Here we encounter Hiere-quŕa, goddess of the gate, of peace, and of new beginnings. We will all encounter her, for she is the guardian of the gate to the realm of the dead and the ancestors! There, Hiere-quŕa takes our personal story from us so that we may freely enter the cycle of rebirth.

She does not wait for us to be perfect. She does not demand that our story have been different. She does not judge us. She does not punish us. She gives us the chance for a fresh start.

But we also encounter her here and now, for we must cross and pass through many thresholds and gates, often letting go of our story to create something new and move forward.

Hiere-quŕa restores our heritage to us, both spiritual and material.

• our own voice

• our own dignity

• our own freedom

• our own land

“O Goddess, teach me; O Goddess, give the light for a new world, where love matters, where equality reigns, where justice exists, exists.”

It is no longer just about personal freedom; it is about the freedom of the world. It is about a world where love matters. It is about a world where people are equal in dignity and rights. It is about a world where justice is not just a word.

Here I ask the Goddess for the light for this very new world. I ask the Goddess to teach me how this new world can come to be.

“Goddess of Love, Goddess of Happiness, fulfillment returns, fulfillment returns. Goddess of Hope, Goddess of Power, happiness smiles upon me, happiness smiles upon me!”

Hiere-quŕa grants hope, power, happiness, and love for the fulfillment of the new world!
