Boducna Goddess of the joy of life
“Boducna, Boducna, full of the joy of life, Boducna, Boducna, give me a kiss!”
There are goddesses who dwell in fire, and there are goddesses who live in springs, stars, or forests. And there is Boducna.
Boducna, the guardian of the heartbeat. Boducna, the guardian of the human heart and the great heart of the Earth.
“Boducna, Boducna, beating heart, Boducna, Boducna, you know every pain.
Boducna, Boducna, you protect my heart; Boducna, Boducna, you heal every pain.”
Boducna, who unites the red blood of humans and the green blood of the Earth.
“Boducna, Boducna, you who are red and green; Boducna, Boducna, you give me peace.”
Boducna is the Swan Queen who comes from the Otherworld. But Boducna is not only gentle; she rises as the Mistress of the Storm when darkness besets the hearts of humans. Then her voice becomes thunder and her footsteps become the wind!
She does not fight to rule; she fights to protect life. She reminds those who have lost their way of the power of their own hearts.
“Boducna, Boducna, Swan Queen, Boducna, Boducna, you guide us through the wind.
Boducna, Boducna, Mistress of the Storm, Boducna, Boducna, you know every worm.
Boducna, Boducna, leader of the battle, Boducna, Boducna, you hold the power.”
The battle she leads is often an inner one. The battle against hopelessness. The battle against fear. The battle against forgetting who we truly are.
Boducna knows every pain. She knows the tears of children, the worries of mothers, the loneliness of those who seek, and the wounds of the earth. But she also knows healing.
With her hands, she touches people’s hearts as a drummer touches the instrument. Slowly, each heart rediscovers its own rhythm. Then life begins to flow once more.
That is why her people gather around the drum. They do not drum for war. They drum for life.
Every beat reminds us of the Earth’s great heart.
Every rhythm reminds us that we are all connected.
